Throughout history the UK has been at the forefront of international trade and despite many global events, alliances and disputes, the UK today remains one of the top 10 nations in the global export league.

However, statistics show that only 9.8% of SME’s and 51.9% of larger companies export their goods or services (ONS 2018).. Or if you phrase it another way 90% 0f SME’s and 59% of larger companies do not export goods or services.

The same statistics also show that the value of exports equates to 35% of GDP.

Keith Stringer and Clive Barnard, two international trade advisers with over 60 years of experience between them realised that if things were going to change, then, the way that companies are supported to achieve exports needs to change too and thus began the journey to create ITSG World Limited.

After a two year programme of discussions with businesses of all size and sector, meetings with overseas embassies and trade organisations and collaborations with industry stakeholders and government agencies resulted in the very clear understanding that business needs a “go to” support group who don’t just tell you how to export or signpost you to other “experts” but are prepared to get involved and help businesses to succeed.

Very quickly their shared passion was recognised by other like minded organisations and individuals and in 2019 the “International Trade Support Group” was formed.

ITSG launched it’s first service in early 2019 which was in the middle of the Brexit troubles and very quickly ITSG became known for its impartiality and “honest broker” explanation of the diverse and often inaccurate messages that were being given to businesses.

Following Brexit, ITSG has helped businesses from all over the UK to understand the changes resulting from Brexit and introduced new markets from many regions of the world.

In 2021 ITSG World was incorporated and the team increased to include additional directors and associates, together with strategic “Trusted Partnerships” with selected businesses who offer the highest quality services.
